I have never wondered whether or not I can afford to do what I am interested in when, for example, I am 25, 40 or 55, I have never correlated my actions with my age. In childhood and adolescence one can engage in any kind of activity (sports, art, hobbies) and public opinion not only supports but also encourages these aspirations, realizing that behind this there are the development of personality, self-discovery and self-determination.

Over the past few years since I started studying at a modeling agency, I've opened up to professional shoots and started a personal blog with the support of the Aesthetics of Age team. Trying to find myself as a model, and I've been asked the question “Why?” so many times that I've honestly wondered to myself, why do I really want to do this?

Trying to find myself as a model, and I've been asked the question “Why?” so many times that I've honestly wondered to myself, why do I really want to do this?

And the very first rationale I found for answering the question on everyone's mind
- “How did I get to this point in my life at my age?”
- is that, modeling for me is an opportunity to experiment with new images and styles, to look and dress up in a way that I could not dream of in my everyday life.

Just recently I read an amazing book by Dutch historian and cultural theorist Johan Heisinga, humans are not only “Homo Sapiens,” or thinking beings, but also “Homo Ludens,” or playing beings.

Huizinga writes that playing is a fundamental aspect of human culture, and that it is through playing that we create meaning, build community, and express our creativity.

Our whole lives are made up of some part of play: sports, political games, underhanded games, mind games, performances in the theater, at work, at home and in the temple and that too is a play. We play all our lives, it's just that as we get older we play adult games, serious, scary and not fun at all, but we try to find hobbies that allow us to express ourselves, socialize with others and find joy in playing.

Discovery Inc. once surveyed hobbies and the result was that hobbies not only help us develop as individuals, but also give us a sense of purpose and fulfillment in life.

The study showed that people who have hobbies are more likely to have a feeling of control over their lives, have higher self-esteem and are better able to cope with stress. Fear of uncertainty and panicky moods give way to confidence and the joy of discovery.

Hobbies, passions, interests are not just superficial activities, they are a source of strength and inspiration. As we age, we often fear that our best days are behind us, but hobbies can help us find a sense of purpose and self-realization.

I embraced my inner "Homo Ludens" and finally consciously started modeling, an activity that fills me with creativity and joy. It makes the world around me vibrant and colorful, giving me inspiration.

Becoming a model after 55 is a great way to show the world that age is not a limitation, but rather an addition to our experience and individuality.

So, if you have the desire to become a model after 55, don't hesitate to do so.
